Art Models 3: Life Nude Photos for the Visual Arts (Art Models series) (No. 3)


Having little time to attend any of the local live model sessions, I purchased this book to improve my figure drawing skills. The book along with the included CD of additional poses, and the publisher's website ([...]), are an amazing resource for mature artists of any skill level interested in drawing the human figure. I was particularly impressed with Douglas Johnson, the book's publisher. When registering the book online, to receive additional FREE poses, I made a suggestion regarding a need for more dramatically-lit figures. Douglas Johnson emailed me back immediately with suggested poses from the website, and a promise to keep my suggestion in mind for future model sessions.
Important: The book, including the covers, CD, and website does include very tasteful, yet excessive nudity of both female and male figures. It not a book you want to keep laying around your house or studio, if you have young children about.

poor lighting
This is a pretty good book in many regards, but the lighting of the models is often poor and harsh, making most poses unusable for more serious artistic pursuits. Too bad, as most models are good and some poses are excellent.


Another great volume on the series
This third volume on the series brings more beautifully posed models for different art projects. One really good thing is that they posed male models in poses originally by female characters and viceversa. Also the couple poses and charming and warm, and the pregnant models look great. This one is a must if you own the previous books.


Great Product for Art Students
This is a very good product. It gives many different views to draw and refine one's skills. The models displayed are attractive and give a multitude of poses.


Art Models 3
I reccomend this book for anyone interested in figure study and photography due to the wide array of model and body types. This book even has couples poseing in very powerful poses. These couples have a chemistry and rapport that makes their posing look very natural. The models are various and there is no one body type to get tired of seeing.

Without doubt it's the best visual reference available for those of us who can't afford to pay models. There's a good selection of body types,male and female, and they can be rotated and enlarged with excellent resolution.There is a good selection of poses with excellent lighting too . I've been doing artwork since I was a child and this has proved to be a valuable tool for the artistic study of human anatomy. Buy it, you can't go wrong on this one.

Art Models 2 Photo Book
This is an excellent book for art students, photographers and other artists interested in studying the huamn form. The book is organized by model. Several classic art nude poses are illustrated from different angles. The book also includes a CD with many photos from the book available for closer review. I recommend this book for all artists and photographers. Cheers!


Wow! Better than the first one
This second volume in the series is even better than the first, better models(with better muscle definition) and the concept of posing them as classical art pieces is a great touch. I got this version, the hardcover with the cd-rom and is and innvaluable tool for the classical trained artist and art student. No machine is better designed and refined than the human body and this book is good evidence of it.

Art Models 2--not bad at all, but it could be better
I bought this book to use as a reference for my drawing and painting, because I'm often unable to find good visual references for the human body. I really like the format; having a PC/Mac CD-ROM with the book is great. The photography and lighting are well done. I'd like to see more variety in the poses, though, as well as more natural (especially more naturally active) poses. It might also be nice to have greater variation in the body types.
